## Excel: Single Digit Dates

Typically formatting days in excel can get you as short as “Mon,Tue,Wed”, but in the process of never needing to shorten that to a single letter, I found this formula as the solution.

Using =CHOOSE(WEEKDAY(*cell w/ date*),”S”,”M”,”T”,”W”,”T”,”F”,”S”) , you can have excel give you a single letter date corresponding to a date that already exists on your spreadsheet.

Using the WEEKDAY formula by itself will give you a corresponding 1-7 based on the day of the week it is. CHOOSE then creates a container for which the 1-7 are assigned the seven text parameters you provide it with.
